Good in this life and the next
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Our Lord, give us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

An open heart and an easier task
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
My Lord, open my heart, ease my task, and release the knot in my tongue so that they may understand my words.
Turning to Allah in difficulty
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
There is no deity except You. You are free of imperfection. I have been among those who did wrong.
A heart that stays guided
رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ
Our Lord, do not let our hearts turn away after You have guided us. Grant us mercy from Yourself; You are the Bestower.
Comfort and goodness in our families
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Our Lord, grant us joy in our spouses and children, and make us an example for those who are mindful of You.
Consistency in prayer
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
My Lord, make me one who establishes prayer, and also my descendants. Our Lord, accept my supplication.
Asking for forgiveness and mercy
رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and show us mercy, we will surely be among those who lose.
Seeking refuge from worry and grief
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَالْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَالْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ، وَضَلَعِ الدَّيْنِ، وَغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ
O Allah, I seek Your protection from worry and sadness, inability and laziness, cowardice and stinginess, the burden of debt, and being overcome by others.
Entering the masjid
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
O Allah, open the doors of Your mercy for me.
Leaving the masjid
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ
O Allah, I ask You for Your bounty.
Before sleeping
بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
Upon waking
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا، وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ
Praise belongs to Allah, who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.
When putting on clothes
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي كَسَانِي هَذَا الثَّوْبَ وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلَا قُوَّةٍ
Praise belongs to Allah, who clothed me in this garment and provided it without power or strength on my part.
Before undressing
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
In the name of Allah.
Mercy for our parents
رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
My Lord, have mercy on them as they raised me when I was young.
Forgiveness and mercy
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
My Lord, forgive and show mercy; You are the best of those who show mercy.
In need of the good Allah sends
رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنْزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ
My Lord, I am in need of whatever good You send down to me.
Mercy and right guidance
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
Our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself and guide us rightly through our situation.
Peace after prayer
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلَامُ تَبَارَكْتَ ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
O Allah, You are Peace and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, Possessor of majesty and honour.
Entering the home
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللَّهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا
In Allah’s name we enter; in Allah’s name we leave; and upon our Lord we rely.
Musa’s plea for forgiveness
رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي
My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.
Our Protector, forgive us
أَنْتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ
You are our Protector. Forgive us and have mercy on us; You are the best of those who forgive.
Belief, forgiveness, and protection
رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Our Lord, we have believed. Forgive our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
Forgiveness for those who believe
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Our Lord, we believe. Forgive us and show us mercy; You are the best of those who show mercy.
